His stormy, blue eyes scanned her systematically from her flip-flops, up her bare legs, over her shorts, lingering on her chest before stopping at her eyes. “You were late.”
“Yes, sir. I was.” Warmth sluiced over her flesh like a gentle caress from his visual inspection. She wasn’t getting involved with him. It wasn’t her fault he was grouchy. Whatever got him in his mood, she didn’t need to deal with it right now.
Avoiding any contact with Eric, she walked to the door to leave.
Both men followed her.
“So how did it go?” Genuine curiosity underlined Eric’s bored tone. He slipped in front of her and opened the door to the hallway with the elevator, crowding her so she had to walk closer to him.
“Fine.” She walked straight through the open elevator doors and pressed the lobby button on the shiny pewter panel, hoping he’d end the inquisition. She lowered her eyes to the marble floor.
“Allergies?” His black, Italian leather shoes came into view as he stepped into the elevator beside her.
“Not that I’m aware of.”
Her body hummed and surged with desire being so close to him. Doctor Hotness had nothing on Eric. Eric was a freaking erupting volcano and she wanted him to erupt in her. Dang, she wanted him so badly. She didn’t want to go and buy a vibrator when everything inside screamed for him to be the one to give her that first orgasm and more.
The doors to the elevator closed, leaving her alone with the man she wanted to add to her Horse List.
The heat of his body encroached on her personal space. His fingers brushed an errant lock of wet hair that fell from her braid behind her ear. He leaned in, closing his hands around her hips as she backed up against the wall. His lips pressed softly against her ear, sending a shiver through her, curling her toes. “Ava, are you single, available, unattached?”
“Divorced,” she squeaked out.
The elevator doors opened, but he held her there, his hands on her hips, his lips on her ear. “Good.” He sucked in the lobe of her ear. “You’ve earned a reward, Ava.” His strong hands tightened on her hips.
She moaned as everything wrong in her life faded into the background. She was in Eric’s world imagining those masculine hands lifting her up, slipping beneath her pants and... Crap. She was not doing that. She didn’t need a man screwing with her head again. Her hands trembled as she covered his hands with her own. “Not happening, Mr. North.”
