Author Bio

When I was younger, I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. Part of my reason for dropping out of college was because I didn’t know what to major in. I was envious of my sister who knew from an early age, she was going to major in math. Good for her, but math was the last subject on my mind. I joined the Navy and found a track I liked. I became a photographer. I covered local news items, accidents, and even shot portraits. It was fun, but not a career path. When I got out of the Navy, I wanted to finish college but I was lost again. What to major in? I chose accounting because all businesses needed it and I went on to get my Bachelor’s and an MBA. After working in the field for a year, I went back in the Navy and asked for any assignment other than accounting.  It worked. After 22 years in the Navy, I retired. My husband and I moved into our motorhome and hit the road. Unfortunately, he passed away and I went back to work at a government job. Then I found writing. I hadn’t written a thing since I was 14 but I was smitten by the bug and have been writing ever since. “Gossamer” is the sixth book I’ve had published and is the third book in a four book series, “The Chronicles of Eledon.” Hope you enjoy it. I had fun writing it.

Promo Post Ahe'ey

About the Book

Title: Ahe’ey
Author: Jamie Le Fay
Genre: Epic Fantasy
Morgan is a dreamer, change maker and art lover. She is a feisty, slightly preachy, romantic feminist full of contradictions and insecurities. Morgan uncovers a world where women have the power, and where magic is no longer just a figment of her wild imagination. Sounds like a dream, but it may, in fact, turn into a nightmare.
The world of the Ahe’ey challenges and subverts her views about gender, genes, and nature versus nurture.
The strong and uninvited chemistry between her and the dashing Gabriel makes matters even more complicated. His stunning looks keep short-circuiting her rational mind.

Editorial Reviews

“In this romantic tale, a champion of women’s empowerment stumbles on a hidden–and seemingly perfect–society. A bracing mix of emotionally and intellectually honest fantasy.” – Kirkus
Reviews

“A compelling and creative work of paranormal romance. Le Fey takes her characters to places seldomly seen in fantasy fiction that readers will find empowering and prescient. Ahe’ey is a fairly polarizing book. As an example of feminist fantasy fiction, you won’t find much better than this. Ahe’ey is an impressively thought-out story, with many original touches and a fairy-like romance that will deeply satisfy readers of the genre.” Self-Publishing Review, ★★★★

“This book is a thoughtful look at empowerment for women. At the same time, it’s a rollicking trip into a fantasy world complete with dragons, love and strength, and ideas that really get you thinking. This book is highly recommended for all ages.” – HUGEOrange

“They’re flawed, real, and honest characters that can be easily related to. Ahe’ey is the kind of novel society needs to read, to create inspiration and to make people think. Ahe’ey is daring, complex, and honest. A must-read novel that tackles heavy and real topics with a mix of serious and humorous, charm and tragedy.” – Reader’s Favorite – ★★★★★

“Ahe’ey contains a richly imagined world that raises complicated and timely questions about our own. Jamie Le Fay’s Ahe’ey is an action-packed love story that puts forth a nuanced vision of gender stereotypes, body politics, and the dark side of seeking perfection.” – Foreword Clarion – ★★★★

Book Review At The Sharp End of Lightning

Title: At The Sharp End of Lightning
Author: Nicholas Bates
Genre: Epic Fantasy / Magical Realism
AT THE SHARP END OF LIGHTNING. The interwoven fantastical tale of family, of loss and sacrifice, of unexpected gifts and coping with disability and new abilities set against the backdrop of climate change occurring across parallel worlds. In Oceanlight, Yalara Narika, a winged Sea Sprite, searches for her lover over immense seas only to find catastrophe and realization that her world is in turmoil. Meanwhile in the safe suburban normality of North Wales, Einion Morgan Alban, a restless youth afflicted by a disease of the blood, is nearly murdered by a man in a white suit. Yalara and Einion must discover the causes of their near-deaths and their as yet unrevealed connections as they both face upheaval to their lives and their worlds. Book One of the OCEANLIGHT series.

Review:  This book masterfully combines two stories connected in a mysterious way. On the one hand, we have the story of Einion Morgan Alban, who is almost murdered by a man in a white suit. The other story focuses first on Yalara, a winged Sea Sprite, who finds catastrophe and disaster when searching for her lover. Einion and Yalara must look for the connection between them, and Einon discovers that the mysterious gifts he has received may have more powers than he thought possible. As the two worlds collide, each of them must face challenges they never thought possible.

An engaging plot and interesting characters mash with elegant language and sometimes complex vocabulary, which fits in well with the fantasy theme of this book. Recommended to fantasy fans.

Book Review and Giveaway The Tattered Banner

Title: The Tattered Banner
Author: Duncan M. Hamilton
Genre: Fantasy

Unique talent always attracts attention…

In a world where magic is outlawed, ability with a sword is prized above all else. For Soren this means the chance to live out his dreams.

Plucked from a life of privation, he is given a coveted place at Ostenheim’s Academy of Swordsmanship, an opportunity beyond belief.

Opportunity is not always what it seems however, and gifts rarely come without conditions. Soren becomes an unwitting pawn in a game of intrigue and treachery that could cost him not just his dreams, but also his life.

Epic swordfights? Check. Intriguing main character? Check. Impressive fantasy setting? Check.

If you're looking for your next swordwielding fantasy extraordinaire, The Tattered Banner is an excellent option. The book opens up with Soren, who is dreaming of becoming a professional sword fighter one day. Unfortunately being a child of the streets means he doesn't exactly have time to hone the craft. But when a rich man sees him fight and offers to take him in as his protegĂ©, his life changes for the better. Soren gets sent to Ostenheim's Academy of Swordmanship, where he trains in the art of swordfighting, and his rare talent develops.

Unfortunately this also means he puts himself at harm's risk, and becomes a pawn in a game of intrigue and treachery. Not just his dreams are at stake, but his life as well.

The writing here was superb, and the characters very engaging. I hope there's a sequel, set in the same fantasy world. Mr. Hamilton shows excellent writing skills and character development, and I can't wait to read more.
